A spring and early summer of exciting baseball has now passed, but for all of us here in Hebron, the action is just heating up. Everyone associated with Hebron Baseball is excited to serve as the host of the Cal Ripken New England 9U Regional Championship. If you are reading this from one of the visiting towns that are participating in the 9U tournament, congratulations on your state tournament success and welcome to Hebron.

Hebron Baseball has grown in many ways in recent years. New dugouts were completed at Veteran’s Memorial Park, a second batting cage was installed at Burnt Hill Park and after launching a full concessions trailer at Burnt Hill in 2013, concessions were also introduced this year for our T-Ball and Rookie leagues at Gilead Hill. We continued to grow the number of special events we offer to our players and families, with over 300 people attending our Rock Cats night, a 3rd annual New Britain Rock Cats youth clinic in Hebron and the annual continuation of our Hebron Futures and Send-off games.

When we began this journey to improve Hebron Baseball three years ago, we unveiled a five-year strategic plan designed to enhance the baseball experience for everyone who comes in contact with our programs. I am happy to report that to date, we have accomplished everything that was included in our vision and the upcoming years promise to bring many more exciting improvements.

I want to thank everyone for all of the positive and rewarding feedback we have received over the past three years in response to our efforts. It just goes to show what can be accomplished when a group of people work together as a team and no one cares who gets the credit.

And now we turn our attention to hosting the best Cal Ripken New England 9U Regional Championship we can. One of the goals in our strategic plan is to make Hebron a tournament destination of choice for Cal Ripken Baseball or any other interested group looking to give their teams and players a great baseball experience. This week, we plan to do just that.

For all of you from Hebron who are volunteering your time this week, thanks in advance for your support. If you are one of our visitors and there is anything we can do to make your stay in Hebron better, please do not hesitate to ask myself or anyone associated with our Hebron Baseball family.

And for all of players and their families who have made it this far, good luck and best wishes for a safe and successful tournament.

Regards,

Steve Turco
